Rent an iPad in the Sky or On the Ground

The iPad is everywhere these days – at home, at the office, on the road, around the world – and for good reason. Friends of mine who own the device constantly refer to their tablet as a “game-changer” as if their iPad alone has given them the ability to take over the world. Perhaps they’re right. Fortunately, several companies are giving individuals a chance to test that theory or at least continue their quest for global domination while flying 30,000 feet in the air.

In the air…

In an effort to upgrade it’s portable entertainment systems, Hawaiian Airlines has purchased 1,500 iPad minis which will be offered to passengers on 14 routes between Hawaii and the U.S. mainland, Asia, and South Pacific aboard its Boeing 767 aircraft. Access to the tablet will cost economy passengers $15 if reserved at the departure gate or $17 if purchased in-flight. The service will be complimentary for business class travelers. Hawaiian is the third airline to bring tablets on board flights following in the footsteps of American Airlines and Australia’s Qantas.

On the ground…
