Coronado Municipal Beach (Coronado, CA): This Southern California staple features “soothing sand” and “surf that never feels crowded” plus plenty of lifeguards and amazing hotels such as the historic Hotel Del Coronado. The beach is also pet-friendly, has several showers, and is close to the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, and Balboa Park, all in nearby San Diego.
Zephyr Cove Resort (Zephyr Cove, NV): Located in Nevada on the border of California, this spot offers shallow waters that are perfect for swimming, paddle-boarding, or just floating in a tube. Zephy Cove Resort also offers hotel, cabin, and campground locations and is home to the beach side sandwich shop Sunset Bar & Grille.
Short Sands Beach (York, Maine): Small in size, this beach is perfect for families with young children, who enjoy calm, clean water. The beach also offers a playground and basketball court as well as restrooms and several lifeguard stations. Located next to Downtown York Beach, visitors to Short Sands Beach have “easy access to shops, restaurants, hotels, and attractions” such as York’s Wild Kingdown Zoo and Fun Park.
New Buffalo Public Beach (New Buffalo, MI): Located just an hour from Chicago on Lake Michigan, New Buffalo Public Beach features shallow and clear waters, a boardwalk that provides easy access to the beach, and lots of amenities including a nature trail, playground, showers, boat launch ramps, a snack stand, and fishing docks. Additionally, hotels and restaurants are just a short walk across the bridge into town.
