Book lodging in advance

Jamie A. says that on holiday weekends you can expect many hotels and rentals to be filled up, so book in advance. Also, rates typically increase on dates closer to the holiday weekend, so don’t wait until the last minute to reserve a room or rental.

Be unusually early

Jamie A. recommends getting to the airport at least 2-3 hours before your flight to get through the long lines and to your gate before takeoff.

Checking Car Tire Pressure

Check tires

If you’re planning on driving, Jamie A. recommends having your tires checked.

Watch Speed Limit When Traveling

Check speed

If you’re driving to your destination, be sure to watch your speed, Jamie A. says. Police will be patrolling highways with heavy traffic, so be cautious and stay within the speed limit to avoid a ticket.

Fully charge all devices and stay connected

Jamie A. says that regardless if you are traveling by car, boat, train or plane, your mobile devices and phones should be fully charged and connected in case of an emergency.
