Spring is here, which means it’s time to turn off Netflix, get off the couch, and get some things done around your home. So which projects are best to tackle this time of the year? Below, we’ve shared a list of the must-do home improvement projects for spring, courtesy of The Monitor. Enjoy!
Keep, donate, or trash
According to The Monitor, the first thing you should do is declutter your home. Start by separating items into three categories: keep, donate, or trash. If you haven’t used an item in more than a year, you probably should part with it. Unwanted electronics, housewares and clothing should be donated to charity. Try to recycle any remaining items before sticking them in the garbage.
Get serious about spring cleaning
The Monitor recommends giving your home a “fresh start” by wiping down windows, countertops, electronics, appliances, doorknobs, furniture, light fixtures, and fans. You should also mop floors and clean the carpets.
Bring your deck back to life
The Monitor says you should take a close look at your deck and check for warped, loose or splintered boards. Sweep away debris in the cracks, they say, make repairs, power wash, and restain, if necessary.
Do a color refresh
The Monitor says that spring is the perfect time to renew your home’s look by painting interior or exterior walls. Bold entry doors are a big trend for 2016.
Bloom where you are planted
The Monitor says to “celebrate the end of winter by creating spaces for bright flowers and making the most of your garden.” If you live in an apartment, bring the outdoors in by using handing baskets, potted plants or herbs.
