If you’ve ever worked in sales (or heck, even walked past one of those skin care kiosks at the mall), you know that one of the most effective ways to sell a product is to demonstrate how it works. Today, thanks to the wonders of technology, many brands are able to do that without ever physically standing in front of a customer. Explainer videos are a great way to demonstrate your product or service and reach a wider audience at a lower cost.
To help ensure your video is effective, we’ve shared a list of tips, courtesy of Annie Pilon for SmallBizTrends.com, below. Good luck!
Keep It Short
Pilon says that the point of an explainer video is demonstrate how to use a product or service so “there’s no need for any complicated backstory or lengthy explanations.” Only include the essential elements to explain your piece as quickly as possible, she says.
Get to the Point Quickly
Pilon recommends telling viewers right away about the problem your product will solve so they know how your product will be beneficial. You only have a couple of seconds before people lose interest, she says, so get to the point quickly.
Explain the Problem
Pilon says that while it’s important to show the product’s features and how it works, you also need to show them specifically what it can do for them.
Show What Makes Your Product Stand Out
After explaining the problem, Pilon says you should take a moment to explain why other solutions aren’t effective, or less effective than your product or service. This strategy can help set you apart from the competition.
