It’s hard to believe, but it’s that time of the year again. Yes, the holiday season is here which means you probably have several parties to attend, including the annual office soiree. Rather than just being able to sit back and enjoy the festivities at work, however, you’ve been asked to organize this year’s get together. Oh joy. Don’t sweat it. Below, we’ve shared a list of tips for planning this year’s event, courtesy of Dan Amato for Successful Meetings.
Secure Appropriate Venue Accommodations
Amato says that it’s critical to work closely with venue managers to accommodate your specific needs. Every holiday celebration should be unique, so be sure to create a tailored, seamless experience for your guest (with a few surprises, of course).
Little Things Mean a Heck of a Lot
A little thing like staffing is important, says Amato, so be sure to confirm there are enough staff present to support your event flow and prevent long lines at the bar, coat check or valet.
A Feed for All
Amato says you should work with the venue to design a tailored menu that all guests can enjoy. Be sure to offer a wide range of food options that will appeal to all palates. Rather than a traditional setup, consider a variety of fully stocked food stations spread out across the venue.
Entertainment Should Fit the Venue
Music is an important element of all gatherings, says Amato, so make sure that when you’re booking a band or DJ they can play a variety of genres from several decades.
Engage Guests to Create a Community
Everyone loves to celebrate, but a holiday party might also be the perfect opportunity to engage your employees or colleagues in a teambuilding activity, Amato says.
