According to new U.S. Green Building Study by Booz Allen Hamilton, the green building sector is outpacing overall growth in the U.S and will account for more than 2.3 million jobs in 2015. The study also found that the green building industry also contributes more than $134 billion in labor income to working Americans.
According to an article at Achrnews.com, green construction will account for more than 3.3 million jobs in America or more than 1/3 of the entire U.S. construction sector. Additionally, it will generate over $190 billion in earnings and its direct contribution to U.S. GDP is expected to reach $303.5 billion from 2015-2018.
The study also projects large growth in green building’s contribution to individual states’ tax contributions and environmental asset indicators at both the state and national levels, according to the article. In fact, total state earnings related to LEED building construction projects are estimated to reach $8.4 billion in three years.
