We all know weddings are expensive, but how far are you willing to go to cut costs? Fewer guests? Fewer flowers? How about holding your wedding in a funeral home? No, seriously.

According to an article at FoodWorldNews.com, the idea of walking down the aisle in a funeral home has been accepted by many couples looking to save a bit of money on the ceremony. The set up with funeral homes actually started about five years ago, according to the article, but hasn’t taken off until just recently.

Aside from a lower cost, funeral homes also generally offer better availability (shocking, right?), which means the couple’s chances are good that they’ll be able to book the venue on a specific date. Additionally, most funeral homes also provide the setting that most brides and grooms want in their weddings such as marble floors, chandeliers, and wide grounds. Even better? The wedding and reception can be held in the same place.

While there are many perks for the soon-to-be newlyweds to choose a funeral home over traditional venues, this trend has also been a “saving grace” for funeral homes who are making less of a profit these days as more and more people choose to be cremated.
