Rent a Boat or Cabin at Red River Gorge This Labor Day

Where to locate vacation rentals in the Cincinnati OH metro regionLabor Day weekend is a big deal around here. From fireworks on the river to celebrations in backyards and community pools everywhere, everyone is glad to have Monday off. Raise your hand if you’ve never had a case of the Mondays, every Monday. That’s what I thought.

And because of this region’s proximity to water, whether it’s the Ohio, Licking, or Little Miami River, or your family chooses to pack up the van and drive south to Lake Cumberland in Kentucky, boats play a prominent role in many locals’ lives. But, boats are expensive. And let’s be honest, unless you live in Miami or a similar destination, you probably aren’t using that boat frequently – at least frequently enough to quantify spending a huge chunk or cash on it. So, that’s where rentals come in.

Whether you live in Cincinnati, New Richmond, California (Ohio, of course), Covington, Newport, Bellevue, Brookville, Ind. or anywhere in-between, there are a wide variety of choices for you. According to Boat U.S., there are a variety of boats to suit your needs: Bass boat – “generally 14-23 feet long and typically used for freshwater fishing. They have low freeboard and a V-hull and are specialized for bass fishing on inland lakes and rivers.” Deck boats: “A wide beam and feature a V-shaped hull which offers more performance than a pontoon boat. They feature an open deck with plenty of seating and are primarily used as party or family boats. Furthermore, they are used for swimming and water sports and can be aluminum or fiberglass. Generally, they range in length from 25-35 feet.” Dinghy:

“A small boat, usually 7–12 feet in length. They are usually powered by oars, small outboards, or sails. Often carried or towed by a larger boat for going ashore. Low cost and an excellent choice for those new to boating.” Bowrider: “These boats are usually anywhere from 17-30 feet in length and are powered by either a stern drive or outboard engines. Lastly, they are considered a family boat and can be used for fishing and water sports” and are another good choice if you’re a boating rookie. So have all the fun being out on the water provides but without drowning your wallet by renting this year.
