- Start planning at least nine months in advance, especially if you have to secure permits.
- Give businesses at least six months notice if asking for donations. Also, avoid soliciting donations around the holidays.
- Promote the event as a night out for parents and encourage guests to dress up.
- Make the night special with food, music, and casino-themed décor.
- Make sure you have plenty of volunteers on hand and be sure to give them time to enjoy the games as well.
Dos and Don’ts
- Don’t skimp on game tables. A good rule of thumb is to have enough tables so that half the guests can play at any one time.
- Do create turnover at tables. To avoid the problem of people not moving from their seat at a table, plan a break in the middle of evening, such as a presentation.
- Do sell tickets in advance. Selling tickets at the door can be a disaster. If you don’t sell out, you can call the catering and casino party operator and change your order.
