This summer, I’m planning to spend a couple of days taking in the sights in Chicago. Sure, I’ve been there before but the Windy City is a great place to get away if you’re on a budget. Living in Kentucky, there’s no reason to fly and thanks to sites such as Airbnb.com, it’s easy to find an affordable place to stay near downtown. For those who aren’t concerned with budgets, there might not be a better place to spend the summer than in the Hamptons.
According to a recent story in Forbes, summer homes in the Hamptons regularly rent out for $25,000 to $800,000 during the time between Memorial and Labor Day. This year, however, there are several rental homes that could bring in $1 million for the season. Below we’ve shared a list of the most expensive summer rental pads in the Hamptons, courtesy of Forbes.com:
612 Halsey Lane (Bridgehampton): The personal estate of developer Joe Farrell, this property boasts 31,000-square-feet of living space, including a 4,000-square-foot recreation room. Known as Soundcastle, the property has hosted Beyone and Jay-Z and has rented for as much as $500,000 for a two-week stay in the past. Asking price: $1 million for July or August.
494 Rose Hill Road (Watermill): Listed for $600,000 for the month of August alone, this property features panoramic views of the Mecox Bay. Listed on the market for purchase for just under $33 million, this is the first time the property has been listed as a summer rental.
160 Ox Pasture Road (Southampton): For $950,000, folks can rent this 18,000-square-foot estate on 10 acres in South Hampton’s Estate section located about a block and a half from the beach for the weeks between Memorial and Labor Day. Rather buy than rent? The property is currently listed at $45 million.
