With Season 4 of “Game of Thrones” set to get underway later this month, we thought it would be fun to share a list of real-life rental castles compiled by the good folks at USA Today. Available through rental site HomeAway.com, here they are in no particular order:
Chateau de Challain: Located in France, this 19th-century castle has room to sleep up to 30 guests. Each suite includes robes, slippers, and more and breakfast is served near a warm fire in the original kitchen. This beautiful castle is both luxurious and romantic.
Carr Hall Castle: This castle, located in West Yorkshire, sits on 12 acres of land and features a private deer park estate, dining room complete with a fireplace, gym, hot tub, indoor heated pool, and guest rooms outfitted with furs on the beds. Carr Hall Castle has five bedrooms and five baths and can accommodate up to 10 guests.
El Castillo: El Castillo is a refurbished castle that is available for rent for the first time in several years. Located in Uruguayan Cote d’Azur, the castle overlooks a private garden, beautiful beach, and amazing seascape. El Castillo can sleep up to 16 guests comfortably and features an amazing infinity pool.
Castle of Aragon: This ancient castle, located in Ischia, Italy, actually sits on its own island. Built on “volcanic rock with churches, courtyards, antique archways, terraces, and arcades”, the Castle of Aragon can accommodate four guests. Guests looking to venture into town can use an ancient bridge built by Alfonso of Aragon in 1438.
Ballyhannon Castle: One of the finest Celtic castles in Ireland, Ballyhannon was built in the 15 century. It sleeps up to 25 guests and features multiple rooms, a deep spiraling staircase, and a red theme and stone walls throughout.
