Let’s be honest. There’s an inner bad-boy or bad-girl somewhere in you that would love to see what all the hype is behind the annual motorcycle rally, Sturgis.
Hammer Down Some Basic Rally Info
Each year in early August, the city of Sturgis in South Dakota becomes home to hundreds of thousands of bikers. Attendees can take part in races, contests, shows, shopping, eating, entertainment, and much more during the week-long rally.
Some bring the entire family, however the event has a reputation for getting a little…um…out of hand. Local police officers have happily reported the cooperation of the majority of Sturgis guests over the years, but unless your children are comfortable around barely-clad women and can function off of no sleep, you might want to find a sitter for that week.
This year, the festivities begin Friday, 8/2/2013 and end Sunday, 8/11/2013. Musical guests include ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Toby Keith, Kid Rock, Rob Zombie, and Brantley Gilbert. Riders can take part in either the Wounded Knee Memorial Run or the Pappy Hoel Memorial Ride during their visit. For the inked biker, contests range from Best Redneck Tattoo to Best Spiritual.
