Renter’s Weight Determines Monthly Rent Payment in Japan
It’s not often I am rendered speechless, but this article I found today shut me up pronto.
If it’s going to happen, though, it’s no surprise the story comes from Japan, known for their extreme and often outrageous behaviors.
“For every kilogram (2.2 pounds) a resident loses, 1,000 yen (approximately $10) is deducted from their rent — or added, if they gain weight.”
Personally, my rent would fluctuate monthly. And no doubt, December would be the most costly after stuffing myself silly at Thanksgiving.
