Just Another Day in the Office at Rent It Today

Excelent Customer Service

“Core Values”- You‘ve likely heard the phrase, but do you really know what they are, and does anyone actually have them? If you work at Rent It Today, the answer to both is an resounding “YES!”

On the walls of our building, on banners in different rooms, within every policy and procedure manual, and below this sentence, you will find Rent It Today’s core values.

  • Evolving the Renting World
  • Promoting Enjoyable Experiences
  • Empowering Both Customers
  • Creating Quality Content
  • Making Renting Simple
  • Loving Renting

These words are so important and powerful around here, I almost feel as though I’ve just shared some secret society initiation ritual.

Above and Beyond

If you were to step foot in our office at any given time, you’d see each and every one of us carrying out one or more of these core values. I’d like to share an example of one of our employees, Les Courtney, exemplifying exactly what I mean.

First, a little background…Les has been with Rent It Today for over five years. He has worked in just about every department, and currently assists customers in our new call center.

Great IdeaLes recently took a call from Beth Brooks, the Project Coordinator of Added Value, a brand development and marketing insight consulting agency. She was looking to rent two specific motorcycles for a photo shoot for approximately four days in both Park City, NJ and Anaheim, CA. Les’ training led him to finding local providers of motorcycle rentals in each city, but none had both motorcycles in stock at the same time. Eagle Rider, out of California, offered to locate dealerships in their area, set up an agreement, then rent to Ms. Brooks as a third party. It was then that Les’ lightbulb went off!

Exceeding his typical responsibilities as a call center agent, Les hit the web, and began searching for dealerships in New Jersey. He eventually got in touch Dan, at Cross Country Cycle in Metuchen, NJ, not too far from the city in which the bikes were needed. After an explanation and discussion of Ms. Brooks’ request, Dan not only agreed to rent both specific motorcycles for the photo shoot, but also offered delivery. Not only did Les go above and beyond, but the fine folks at Cross Country Cycle did, too!

No Profit to Us

Rent It Today did not, and does not, profit from connecting the renter and the rentee. Therefore, nothing tangible was earned by Les’ actions. What Les did earn, however, is the appreciation of all parties involved and the satisfaction of, in his words, “just doing what Rent It Today does – Making Renting Simple!”

Evolving the Rental Industry Nets Second Consecutive Award.

Cincy Magazine held its fourth annual Tristate Success Award luncheon at the Sharonville Convention Center, Tuesday, April 9, 2013. Rent It Today was among 49 Greater Cincinnati companies honored at the ceremony. It marked the second consecutive year Rent It Today was recognized.

The Cincinnati metropolitan area’s strength as a thriving business center is built on the growth and success of its businesses. Based on this premise, the Tristate Success Awards were instituted to honor local companies which have grown in revenue and employees despite an uncertain economic climate.

dunnhumbyUSA CEO Cites Loyalty in Keynote Address

In his keynote address, dunnhumbyUSA CEO Stuart Aitken outlined how his company has achieved the success which allowed his firm to recently begin construction of a new four-story corporate headquarters in downtown Cincinnati.

Aitken stressed identifying and rewarding loyal customers as a cornerstone of dunnhumbyUSA’s corporate strategy as well as clients like The Kroger Company, Macy’s, Coca-Cola, General Mills, and Proctor & Gamble.

Aitken has adopted the same ‘success through loyalty’ approach in fostering relationships with dunnhumbyUSA employees, creating a work environment which has landed his company on the Cincinnati Business Courier’s “Best Places To Work” list four times.

400+ In Attendance

In addition to giving the 400+ attendees a chance to reflect on their accomplishments, the event also served as a forum to connect with other decision makers on the issues which face the region.

NBC affiliate WLWT Channel 5 news anchor Courtis Fuller repeated his 2011 role as event emcee.

Tristate Success Award

Tristate Success at Sharonville Convention Center

For Rent It Today, being a recipient of the prestigious award for the second straight year serves as verification the company is headed in a positive direction. The rental industry marketing company has added significant staff in the past year to support its growing client base as well as its new Call Center.

“The future is indeed bright here at Rent It Today,” said founder and CEO Jason Glass. “I felt Stuart Aiken’s keynote address resonated with our own growing focus in identifying and rewarding loyal customers.  It simply reinforces the desire to continue on that path.”

Rent It Today has seen continuous growth since Glass and Matthew Stephenson founded the company in 2007. More and more consumers as well as businesses realize the value of rental, making it a trend which shows no signs of slowing. Five Unique Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas No One Wants

Do You Like Me Valentine

Aaaahhhh, love is in the air here at Rent It Today. With Valentine’s Day upon us and because we care about you, we’ve compiled a list of five unique gifts you could give your Sweetie this year. But before we give away the secrets to a successful Valentine’s Day, we would like to state the following:

Rent It Today shall not be held responsible for any injury, break-up, tire-slashing, defamatory Facebook posts from your Snookums, or other damage or loss of any kind suffered or incurred by any person who is stupid enough to use the suggestions below as real gift ideas.

Now that that is out of the way…..the envelope, please……(drumroll)……..

NUMBER 5: Ear Cleaning

Ear CleanerThe love of your life must live in Japan if you wish to bestow on them the service of having a professional clean out their ears. And because I am certain you are wondering who qualifies as a professional, I will inform you, it’s not just anyone that makes walrus teeth with Q-tips. Instead, the staff go through a grueling one week training to master the skills and use of a cleaning tool known as a mimikaki. Sounds like a bunch of mimikaki to me, but I swear, this is for real.

NUMBER 4: Mobile Hangover Bus

So your Honey Buns can’t handle all that Sex on the Beach, huh? We’re talking the drink here! Well, for anyone that overdid it the night before, now they have a place to recover with a bunch of other embarrassed amateurs. Hangover Heaven will provide you with all the hydration, vitamin supplementation, puke buckets, and stomach pumps you need to cure your cotton mouth. Well, they don’t really advertise stomach pumps, but there is a catch. You can’t be so wasted that you don’t know where you are, as part of their service includes picking you up from your fall down spot. So before you pass out, make sure you ask that stranger next to you for their address, then write it on your forehead so you’ll see it when you splash water on your face in the morning.

NUMBER 3: Personal Hand-Written Letter or Poem

Writing A PoemSure, this sounds like an obvious one, but the best part is that it’s for those that are good with words, but lazy as a sloth. For anyone that doesn’t know, sloths are known as the slowest mammal on Earth, spending most of their time just hanging from a branch….not even getting up to get the remote….even if Lifetime is on. For you sloth-like personalities out there, Epistly will write your Cutie-Patootie a personal letter of prose. Here’s the thing…you have to compose the words, and they will literally just write it, because their handwriting is much prettier than yours, and they probably own one of those super cool pens from the eighties that have red, green, and blue all in one.

NUMBER 2: Bird Excrement Removal

Your relationship truly hits a milestone when you can start talking about poop. Well, if you’re already there with your Little Poopy-Pants, then the gift of bird sh*t removal may just be the best present they could ever imagine getting. And if they really feel that way, you may want to also line up Idea Number 4 for them, because they are obviously smashed out of their mind.

NUMBER 1: Maid Service

Sexy Maid ServiceThis is for all you lovely ladies out there, looking for the ideal gift for your Big Daddy Yum Yum. If you are secure in your relationship, or just tired and out of excuses, you should hire the gals that buff in the buff. Yep, we women have hit an all time low! Lubbock Fantasy Maid Service in Texas will send out one of their Angel-Pusses to clean your man’s area for a small fee. But don’t be confused. These ladies have standards! They advertise as “not a sexually oriented business.” Well that makes sense. I guess they are just like us everyday Moms out there – looking to provide for our kids, cleaning out World War III that takes place in our husband’s toilet, and dealing with our self-esteem and height issues by wearing stilettos. I get it. Too bad I don’t live in Texas. My 5’2” frame could use a couple extra bucks.

Comparing Years 2010 to 2012 – Record Numbers for Rent It Today

Jumping For Joy

During a recent staff meeting here at Rent It Today, we recounted everything that has evolved with the company over the past few years. That discussion can be described in one word – SUCCESS.

I take that back. A lot of words can describe the past 24 months at Rent It Today: growth, evolution, prosperous, thriving, productive, validated, influential, expanding,…..you get the point.

A Rundown Of The Numbers

Let’s take a look at some of the numbers relative to visitors to www.RentItToday.com from January 1, 2010 until December 31, 2012:

Company Growth Graph• Visits – 421,743 to 1,419,970; an increase of 236.69%
• Unique Visitors – 376,742 to 1,194,092; an increase of 216.95%
• Pageviews – 1,149,425 to 3,183,291; an increase of 176.95%

Alongside these pretty impressive stats, we also saw a decrease in pages per visit, average visit duration, and bounce rate. This suggests that viewers are now locating their items more quickly.

Why?

Over that time, Rent It Today underwent some significant changes that undoubtedly affected these numbers. Those include the development of two new internal software programs, creation of a mobile friendly site, addition of partnering rental companies, office expansion, and employee growth.

Rent it Today’s achievements are also a direct reflection of our team’s dedication to our company core values:

Teamwork• Evolving the rental world
• Promoting enjoyable experiences
• Empowering both customers
• Creating quality content
• Making renting simple
• Loving renting

We Are Much Obliged

There truly is just one word for how we feel about the past two years, and that word is “grateful.” We are grateful to you, our customer, for letting us do what we love. We love making renting simple, and we love working with you. Thank you for your partnership, as well as your trust and loyalty. The year ahead promises great things, and we are excited to share them with you!

Out With 2012 and In With 2013

Damn the Mayans…..Full Speed Ahead!

“For last year’s words belong to last year’s language, and next year’s words await another voice.”
- T. S. Elliot

The staff at Rent It Today wishes you and yours a blessed and prosperous 2013.

Thanks for being a part of our family.

Winter Night in Boston

Tis the season for chilly weather, but also for cabin fever. Sure, it’s nice to stay inside all snuggled up by the fire when the cold winds of winter arrive, but you can only stand so much before the urge to get out of the house takes over.

If you live in or near the Boston area, you are in luck. There’s so much going on during the winter months in the capital city of Massachusetts, you’ll soon forget about that fire!

Beer Drinkers, Historians, & Bellydancers Unite

Boston's Annual Beanpot Hockey TournamentBoston and surrounding nearby cities are host to numerous annual gatherings that are highly attended, as well as anticipated, by residents and visitors. For example, each year, participants and spectators enjoy the Beanpot Hockey Tournament, Yule Ball, Wine Expo, Chinese New Year Celebration, and Boston Tea Party Reenactment. Foodies have their “fare” share of options when it comes to warming their tummies during the most frigid time of year. Burdick, getting your dip on at Grendel’s Den serving fondue and other delicious dishes, or toasting your tastebuds with the spicy cuisine offered during Heaven or Hell Night at the East Coast Grill.

Looking to gain a little knowledge? Whether it’s an artistic lesson in glass blowing during a visit to Diablo Glass School, an educational enrichment at the Isabella Steward Gardner Museum, or a swig of insight into the making of beer at The Samuel Adams Brewery, you’ll stay warm indoors while learning interesting facts and information.

No matter your interests or your age, there’s an adventure awaiting you this December or January. So, gather your friends and family, and get ready for fun!

Rent It Today Wishes You and Yours A Happy Thanksgiving

Wishing You and Yours A Memorable Thanksgiving

Reflecting and Giving Thanks for All Our Blessings

This is the time of year we pause to reflect on our many blessings.

The Rent It Today family wishes you and yours a memorable Thanksgiving holiday.

We count you among our blessings and are grateful for your support.

NBC’s Parks and Recreation Jumps on Board the Rental Bandwagon

Rent Anything, AnywhereWith each passing day, we’re witness to people catching the “renting bug.” First, it was cars and tuxedos. Then, it was beach chairs and wedding items. Next, came the electronics and party inflatables. Now, it’s just about anything you can imagine. And when I say anything, I mean even chickens, caskets, and bear spray. Yeah, I said bear spray….and chickens….and caskets.

Renting Just Makes Sense

People are catching on. In a time when gas prices are higher than my bangs in the 80’s and a good pair of jeans means my dinners for the next month will contain the word ramen, renting goods is a forehead-smacking fix to saving some green. I’m not saying you should rent underwear (and yes, underwear rental is real, and no, I’m not going to link to it.), but for inconsistently used items, or to live out a life-long dream, renting is the way to go.

Parks and Recreation’s Rent-A-Swag

Even the folks at NBC have caught on. Have you heard of the show Parks and Recreation? If not, step away from this blog post right now, and go set your DVR. I’ll wait……

I won’t get too detailed, as I don’t want to be a spoiler (and because I want you to keep reading), but basically, one of the main characters experiences a lightbulb moment which leads to the creation of Rent-A-Swag, described as “high end clothes rentals for teens, tweens, and everything in betweens.” Ya gotta watch.

All The Kids Are Doing It

High end clothing rental may be a new concept for a tv show, but it isn’t new in the world o’ borrowing. Just ask the employees that pay their own rent with a check from Rent the Runway, Fashion Forward Maternity, or Tie Try. It seems like everybody’s doing it!

Have I sold you on renting yet? What if I told you you can rent casino party items? Or a Lamborghini? Are you even still reading this, as I’ve included Are rainbows the future of happiness?well over the recommended number of links per blog post?

What’s On Your Rental Wish List?

When I started working at Rent It Today, I was blown away by the amount and types of everyday items available for rent. That list continues to grow right along with the popularity and sensibility of renting. Now, if only someone could find a way to fulfill my rainbow rental idea, then I’d be a happy blogger.

I’m curious, what rental item would make you a happy renter?
