Pink Excavator Rental From Beard Equipment Company

All pink excavator rental proceeds go to USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital and the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute.

There are a number of ways to support the fight against cancer. Some of us take part in walk/run fundraisers. Some purchase pink goods where a percentage of the proceeds go to a research or treatment facility. There are even sporting events where they use pink sports equipment with a portion of the ticket sales going to cancer research. Now, you can add “rent an excavator” to the list of ways you can help.

In Mobile, Alabama, Beard Equipment Company has a pink excavator rental available for construction projects. When your rent this particular excavator, you will also be supporting USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital and the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute.

Kristen Beard DeLaney, of Beard Equipment Company, is quoted in the following:

Volvo Rents Believes In Giving Back

Folds of Honor Partners with Volvo RentsThe Folds of Honor Foundation provides post-secondary educational scholarships to the spouses and children of service members disabled or killed as a result of their military service. In an effort to promote greater awareness for the Folds of Honor program, Volvo Rents has been painting some of their rental construction equipment to reflect patriotic themes, and donating 20 percent of the rental proceeds from that equipment to the cause. The eye-catching Red, White, and Blue Campaign is part of Volvo’s Color For A Cause program.

Since the partnership with Volvo Rents began in 2009, The Folds of Honor Foundation has received contributions exceeding $100,000, according to foundation Vice President Ed Pulido. Pulido is a veteran who was wounded in 2004 during action in Iraq, and has two daughters who have received scholarships.

Volvo Rents vice president of sales and marketing, Matt Tavianini, reported in addition to raising funds for Folds of Honor, the Red, White, and Blue Campaign also has built nearly 20 homes for veterans this year with the Homes for Our Troops organization.

“We’ve done other pieces for breast cancer awareness and autism, but focused on veterans the past two years,” Tavianini said. “It’s just eye catching when the equipment is all painted up.” -from Fox Business

Excavator Rentals Take On A Wide Range Of Projects

Heavy equipment rental machines for the construction industry today are designed to accommodate as much multi-tasking as can be effectively engineered. The hydraulic excavator is a good example. In its early forms, excavators were designed primarily to speed the task of ditch digging, excavating, and earthmoving excavation applications.

Today’s excavator rentals are utilized in a multitude of tasks ranging from demolition, heavy craning, mining, and aggregate applications to waste handling, forestry work, and river dredging. Modern excavators are built to accept a wide range of attachments like augers, jackhammers, concrete breakers and pincer-like grabbers, developed to complement the standard shovel bucket and allow excavators to take on a wide range of projects.

Excavators are a wise choice for virtually any type of business which depends upon heavy equipment since they are able to offer precise operation within a relatively small footprint. When you are considering an addition to your heavy construction equipment fleet there are essentially three choices to consider: buying, leasing or renting. Which one is best for your situation depends upon your individual business. The following are some factors to consider which can assist you in determining the appropriate choice.

Buying Creates Equity

The primary advantage of buying equipment comes after your business has repaid the purchase loan, and you own and have title to the machine. At this point it becomes an asset to your company. If you upgrade in the future, you can trade it in to reduce the cost of the next piece of equipment you buy. Equipment depreciation will reduce your tax obligation. The disadvantage in buying is that your upfront payments and those over the life of your loan will be higher because you are paying for the full value of the machine. You also incur responsibility for all maintenance and insurance costs.

Leasing Reduces Operating Costs

When leasing an excavator you still contract to make monthly payments for a set period of time, in a manner similar to making loan payments on a purchased machine. With a lease, you are only paying for the usage and depreciation of the machine, so your payments will be lower. Also, no down payment may be required, so leasing makes it easier to replace aging equipment with minimal capital outlay. In addition to offering reduced operating expenses, leasing helps structure a more orderly and realistic schedule for replacing equipment before wear-and-tear and maintenance costs become too expensive. When the lease expires, simply return the equipment to the finance company. Thus leasing is a more cost-effective way to keep your fleet stocked with relatively new machines.

Renting Allows Greater Flexibility

Excavator Rentals in Grand Junction COThe primary advantage renting offers is cost-effective access to equipment you need to perform large scale construction work or jobs which may be outside your core competency. This allows your business to submit bids on projects you otherwise could not effectively compete on, and to expand your business base without a large capital outlay. It’s also a practical, low risk method to try a machine before you buy, and to take advantage of the latest technology without incurring costly depreciation.

Companies like Power Equipment Co. offer a variety of Colorado excavator rental options. Some construction equipment rental companies offer flexible leasing periods enabling one to  rent an excavator for a day, week, or a month, and up to one year. The rental dealer as a rule will handle maintenance, which frees up your budget for other expenditures. Bear in mind that if you want to rent a machine for, say, three weeks, it might be more cost effective to rent it for a full month.

Renting Gives You More Options

Excavator Rental in Colorado Springs, COFind and develop a good relationship with an experienced and reputable rental provider which offers ample stock. Doing so will give your business access to a wide array of complementary or support equipment. This can be very valuable if you are expanding your scope and breaking into new construction areas.

As a general rule of thumb, if the equipment you are contemplating is going to be used frequently, you’ll benefit by buying or leasing it. If it’s something you’re only going to need for a short time span or infrequently, it probably makes more sense to rent.

Scratch Operating Heavy Equipment Off Your Bucket List

Digg This Heavy Construction Equipment Rental Experience

Rent an Excavator and Digg This Heavy Equipment Playground!

Remember when you were a kid and you played in the sandbox with your toy bulldozers, fantasizing about being behind the controls of the giant machines you saw on construction sites?

It’s said the only difference between men and boys is the size of their toys and a Las Vegas enterprise is now offering both men and women the opportunity to play with full sized construction equipment on an adult scale. For those over the age of 14 who drive past construction zones and wonder what it’s like to commandeer a real bulldozer or excavator, there is no longer a need to wonder.

Back in 2004, Ed Mumm, a Colorado fencing contractor, rented an excavator for a project and ran the piece of heavy equipment himself. He had so much fun operating the machine; he came up with the idea to create a business allowing others to enjoy the same experience.

After doing his due diligence and business planning for three years, Mumm launched his heavy equipment playground concept in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. He christened the enterprise Dig This and the idea was well received. So in early 2011 Mumm decided to move the operation to one of America’s most famous playgrounds: Las Vegas, Nevada.

Young Man Playing with ExcavatorThe heavy equipment amusement park currently offers two bulldozers and three excavators for rent which patrons can operate on a five acre spread. Renters can use the heavy equipment to dig trenches and move earth, as well as have fun tackling an obstacle course specially designed to test the aptitude of the operator.

Safety is a primary concern, so each operator initially participates in a quick overview of the safety procedures that we are required. After passing a breathalyzer test, renters are fitted with a neon yellow vest and hardhat. From there participants take their seat at the helm of their giant earth mover. Dig This instructors then walk patrons through every lever, button, and gauge that is needed to skillfully maneuver the heavy equipment. Following this brief period of in-cab training, it’s on to the business of play.

For those new to the controls, Dig This has designed a series of warm up exercises to get rookies earthmoving like a champ. Via headset, an instructor maintains contact while the digging, trenching, and pushing warm ups occur. Once the mentor decides to set the operator loose, they can tear, dig, rip, claw, grind, and drive at will.

Sessions run 90 minutes and up to two a day can be booked. And lest you think this is an all male bastion, Dig This reports that roughly half of its customers are women. Trip Advisor has rated Dig This the number one attraction in Las Vegas. It seems that many Las Vegas visitors want to pull levers that aren’t attached to a slot machine, and roll heavy machinery as well as dice.

My Other Car is a Crane

Cranes working on Windmills
During a recent road trip to Michigan, I observed my first wind farm that included hundreds of wind turbines. After making up answers to appease my three year old daughter’s endless questions of “Mommy, what are those? What do they do? How do they work? Can I have one?” I realized I had my own questions. My most ponderous queries dealt more with how such an enormous structure was constructed and how in the world the pointy “thingies” were placed up so high. I mean, I’ve been to Home Depot lots of times, and I’ve never seen a ladder that tall. When I asked my husband how it was possible to construct something so tall and big, he simply responded with, “The same way Stonehenge was built.” Thanks for nothing, Honey. It was then that I looked over, and actually got to witness a wind turbine in the middle of construction. With a slap on the head, I realized that there’s no real magic behind its creation. Instead, the smoke and mirrors in this case came in the form of a crane.

There are numerous types of cranes designed to carry out specific tasks. Each model of crane is equipped with optional attachments, as well as engine and horsepower ability for different lifting capacities. For example, you may spot a carry deck crane if you are inside a warehouse that is transporting items from high shelving. During the assembly of a bridge, you will most likely see a lattice truck crane in use. Those wind turbines? Probably put together with the use of a truck mounted crane. These are just a few of the models of crane rentals and rigging equipment available for rent through construction equipment rental companies on Rent It Today.

During my research of cranes for this article, I realized that they are not solely used for construction. In fact, I located some fascinating crane uses that I feel must be shared with anyone looking for a crane rental. You can be the judge as to whether or not they really occurred or are a staged incident.

Aerial Lifts and Equipment Rental for Trimming Trees Safely

Lift Rental used for Tree Trimming

Trimming Trees Safely and Properly

It’s the perfect time to set your targets on any annoyingly spreading trees that need to know their place. Whether they’re starting to poke into power lines or tip-toe over your property line, the best time to trim them down to size is late Winter. However, like many people you may not start to think about doing yard work until the weather breaks in the beginning of spring. Naturally, there are no leaves in the way, which makes the work much cleaner and the clippings much neater. In late winter trees and plants are dormant, so removing outlying branches does minimal damage to the tree’s health as a whole.

Now, you could hire an experienced landscaper or arborist to do the trimming for you, but odds are you aren’t reading up on the subject just so you can pay someone else to do it. If you’re angling on the do it yourself route, the first piece of equipment you’ll want is an aerial lift, which can be rented from a number of construction equipment rental sources. This can come in a few forms – some lifts are towed behind a truck, also called bucket lifts, while others are self-propelled. The automotive lifts are naturally more beefy and can generally extend to greater heights, so verify what piece of equipment best matches your needs before investing in a rental.

So you have a boom lift and you’re staring eye to eye with your lumber monstrosity…it’s time to use your rental equipment and trim your tree. You might think that you can just go crazy with a chainsaw and be done with it, but to protect the health of the tree, trimming must be done in a precise and calculated way. The goal is to protect the trunk of the tree – any damage to this can critically damage the tree. For any limb you want to trim from the tree, locate the “stem collar.” Basically, near the area where every branch meets the trunk, there’s a lip of tissue called the stem collar that grows out and makes a little ridge. Any cutting you do needs to be on the branch side of this collar. Cutting in this way will allow the tree to heal the cut quickly.

Once you’ve located the stem collar, a simple three-step cutting procedure will ensure that you get a clean cut and prevent cracks from traveling back to the trunk. First, cut a small, triangle-shaped notch from the underside of the branch just after the stem collar. Then, move down the branch a little and cut through the branch from top to bottom. The notch you cut first will prevent any cracks or fractures from running down the entire branch to the trunk. Once the branch has been trimmed, cut the remaining stub as close to the stem collar as you safely can. Simply repeat this process for all offending branches and presto, your wooden friend will look much more presentable.

Rent It Today has a variety of construction equipment rental and tool rentals available for contractors, construction companies, landscapers, and people working on lawn, gardening, & home improvement projects.
