Let’s face it: No one feels like doing much in the winter. The weather is cold, the days are short, and there’s plenty of football to watch on weekends. Once the spring season rolls around, however, those excuses fly out of the window. Right, honey? Sure, there are a million things to do around the house, but which projects are the best to do this time of year? We’re glad you asked. Below, we’ve shared a list of some of the most popular home renovation projects for spring, courtesy of Lindsay Lambert Day for FoxBusiness.com. Take a few minutes to read through the list and then get to it!
Project #1: Landscaping
Instead of shelling out big bucks for a “front-lawn-turned-botanical-garden”, Day recommends planting seeds at a fraction of the cost of established plants and to do a little lawn maintenance – mowing, weeding, edging, raking leaves, and trimming hedges – to keep things looking nice. Adding a few inexpensive flowers will add color and give you a “transformed yard.”
Project #2: Repaving the Driveway
Winters can be harsh on your driveway but adding a new layer of asphalt isn’t the answer (but is, however, very pricey). Day recommends adding a new sealcoat if your driveway isn’t full of potholes which will provide “a sufficient spruce up.” The cost? $250-500.
Project #3: Repainting the Walls
Repainting an interior room can make a big difference at a fairly low cost but painting just for the sake of changing colors is a waste of time unless you’re painting “a black wall, an unsightly mural or peeling paint.” To get more bang for your buck, Day recommends painting only what you really need in a safe colors such as light grey, yellows, blues, or earth tones.
