Well, the New Year is here and that means experts across most industries are posting their lists of trends and projections for 2015. One of the industries we always keep our eye on here at Rent It Today is the wedding industry. A few weeks ago, the #1 online wedding resource, The Knot, released its annual Wedding Trends Report, including the top ten trends in weddings for the New Year. Below, we’ve shared a few of the trends on the list. To read the company’s official release in its entirety, click here.

  1. Drone Wedding Photos and GoPro Videos: Drones and GoPro cameras are being used by industry photographers to view your wedding from “every angle imaginable.” Whether you want aerial shots of the ceremony (drones) or ultra-creative shots of you and your guests using a “selfie stick” (GoPro), these pieces of equipment let you capture the memories of your big day in a new way.
  2. Bridesmaids Are Off The Hook – There’s An App for That!: The days of asking your bridesmaids to help “tie bows on wedding favors” and do other tasks are over. Instead, many couples are using apps such as TaskRabbit to “take on small to-dos,” TouristEye to “help plan a honeymoon itinerary,” and The Know Wedding Planner app to track down the right wedding professionals. Wedding guests can also get in the smartphone fun by checking registries and buying gifts via their phone and using apps such as Lyft and Uber to find a ride home after the reception.
  3. Foodie Installations: The Knot expects food and drink to take “center stage this year in an outrageous way.” In 2015, look for hanging salad stations, doughnut dessert walls, and beer-garden-inspired stations, complete with “beer steins made of ice.”
