The first article in this series talks about new technology developed for excavators, that is available on some models of excavator rentals.

Vertical Digging System Excels at Paris Show

This construction news is brought to you by BlueLine Rental of South Florida: The Port St Lucie material handling, Tampa excavation, and Pompano Beach backhoe machine experts in Florida.

Wacker Neuson won the EDGE Innovation Award in “Construction and Maintenance of Open Spaces” for the Vertical Digging System (VDS) at French trade show Salonvert this year. The show was held in September at Saint-Chéron near Paris. The trade show, which is growing in popularity because of the opportunity for visitors to test the machines on display, also gave Wacker Neuson the opportunity to show more of its light and compact equipment.

The award-winning VDS boasts a powerful set of operating features for excavators and mini excavators. Operators can tilt the excavator superstructure by fifteen degrees at the push of a button, and can operate on slopes of up to twenty-seven degrees. Excavator rentals equipped with VDS can dig with precision in a vertical position, which enhances efficiency and saves materials. This makes operation more stable, increasing both safety and comfort for the operator. The VDS system is available in seven excavators, with weights ranging from 1.7 to 5 tons.

“We have seen an impressive leap in orders for excavators equipped with VDS. Customers who have already bought or test-driven VDS excavators now only buy models with this option,” Wacker Neuson Linz GmbH General Manager Gerhard Neudorfer said. “Word has spread fast among industry experts that VDS lives up to its quality promise, delivering a host of benefits.”

I think my uncle is looking to rent an excavator like that in the next few weeks.  He needs to dig up a pretty large part of his back yard before summer, and an excavator would be the easiest way to do it.  Hopefully he won't have much trouble lining up a rental soon so he can get the job out of the way.
