Comparing strollers are important as different strollers are designed for different
occasions and functions. Essentially, the main purpose is to safely travel with you infant
or toddler however some strollers are specifically designed for parents who like to run
while others are geared towards a simple walk in the park. Added features such as the
ability to fold up for compact storage and adjustable handles are things that should be
considered. Prices for strollers range from $100 to well over $400 so it might be a good
idea to rent a stroller first to ensure that it meets your requirements. This way you can
feel confident knowing that you have made the right decision with your stroller purchase.
Common Stroller Features:
Rain cover, anti-glare and zippered canopies
The ability to compact or fold the stroller for easy transportation or storage

Stroller Types:
Carriage Strollers - offer a traditional style and were designed for leisurely walks in the park. Carriage strollers are also known as "Prams" and often offer a fully-reclining seat that will allow your child to lie flat down as you stroll. These type of strollers sometimes have a feature that will allow you to expand the size as your infant grows. These strollers also have a more luxurious or cosmetic tone to them with varying styles.
Standard Strollers - These strollers offer the flexibility of reclining while providing a sturdy structure. They are appropriate for infants to toddlers and they're considered the easiest to push and steer. They're robust structure and ease of use make them a good choice for prolonged daily activities and errands.
Light weight strollers - A popular choice amongst most new mothers as they weigh 12 pounds or less and can be folded making them very compact in size for easy transporting. Unlike standard strollers the light weight stroller does not have the option of reclining and as such they are only suitable for toddlers that are 1 year old or older. They are generally used as a secondary stroller as they are generally much cheaper and often convenient for quick and common daily activities and errands.
Umbrella Strollers - Similar to lightweight strollers, umbrella strollers are light in weight and compact. They often have a very simple design and are small in size which makes them easy to navigate through narrow places and they also can fit is almost any vehicle's trunk.
Jogging Strollers - As it's title suggest this type of stroller was specifically designed for parents who like to jog and wish to bring their toddler along with them. Jogging strollers are designed to be very strong to with withstand the impacts of rocks and bumps in the road. Their wheels are bigger, usually air filled and designed to take on any surface that you wish to jog on. The frame is much stronger then other strollers although light in weight. Most models often come with a safety strap to prevent the stroller from trailing off from parents by keeping the stroller close.
All-Terrain Strollers - while there is a lot of similarity in design to that of the jogging stroller an all-terrain stroller is designed differently mainly by use of the front wheel. It's swivel design allows for easy navigation while the structure maintains robust for any environment you wish to take your child on. This makes it easier for parents to steer and maneuver their stroller. It's great for any outdoor situations although can be used effectively for prolonged trips at the mall.
Combo Strollers - These strollers are great for parents that want to be able to use the same stroller from infancy to toddler-hood. Most models usually contain a toddler base with an additional add-on bassinet.
Combo strollers tend to also have added benefits such as cup holders, additional padding, storage compartments and adjustable height handles.
Travel Systems - As it's title suggests these are strollers with built-in car seats. This can be convenient in many situations such as moving a sleeping infant from the stroller to a vehicle. Some models have a completely independent stroller. This may make things useful in the future when infants outgrow their car seats as they can still make use of the stroller. Travel systems often have secure ways of mounting the car seat to the stroller and removable padding for easy cleaning.
Bike Trailers and Baby Bike Seats - For active parents that love to ride their bikes they can choose from an assortment of baby bike seats and baby bike trailers for their infant. Some models are designed to be universal while others are made specifically for different types of bikes. Bike Trailers are considered to be a safe alternative to baby bike seats as there is more stability. Some bike trailers offer added versatility as they are design to transform into strollers as well.
