Is the equipment sanitized?
Yes, prior to every rental the equipment is properly sanitized and safety inspected.
Is the equipment certified?
Yes, we only use equipment that has been approved by the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA). We also select our equipment based on the recommendations of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). We belong to multiple product manufacturing recall lists to ensure that we will be alerted as soon as an item is recalled, at which time we will immediately remove it from our inventory.
Do you carry liability insurance?
Yes, Travel BaBees takes every precaution to ensure the safety of it's customers and property. We are a fully insured baby equipment rental company. When researching baby equipment rental companies, you should always ask if the company is insured.
What is California's Child Restraint Law?
California law states that children MUST be properly restrained in an appropriate child passenger restraint system in the rear seat of a motor vehicle (safety seat or booster seat) until they are at least 6 years of age or weigh at least 60 pounds. Do you install car seats?
We currently do not install car seats. All of our car seats come with the instruction manual.
What do I need to know about renting a car seat from a car rental agency?
Because rental car agencies are not in the business of baby and child equipment it is most likely the seats will not be in as good of condition as if you were renting from a company that specializes in it. You will want to ask what types of seats they use, how often they are cleaned and replaced and how they monitor the seats for recalls. Most importantly, you will want to make sure it is a confirmable reservation. It has been our experience that companies will take a reservation and when the customer arrives they have been unable to provide a car seat. There is nothing more unacceptable than to arrive at the airport and not have a car seat available. It is not only dangerous but illegal.
What do I need to know about renting a crib from a hotel?
Because hotels are not in the business of baby and child equipment it is important to ask specific questions. Everyone has a different interpretation of a "crib". You will want to ask what type of crib they use, how often they are cleaned and replaced and most importantly you'll want to make sure it's a FULL SIZE crib. Many hotels will tell you that it is a crib, but it really is a portacrib or a pack-n-play. Ask if it is wood or metal, the metal cribs are very uncomfortable. Ask if the mattress is of full thickness (5 inches). Most hotels use a thinner mattress (3 inches) and are not comfortable. Portable cribs are not recommended for children over 6 months of age.
NOTE: The dimensions of a full size crib should be no less than 55W x 31D x 45H
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand that plans change and if you need to cancel with at least 48 hours notice, you will not be charged anything. If, however, the cancellation is less than 48 hours of your reservation, you will be charged 50% of rental fee.
